The first six slides are from the Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs. It was pretty interesting seeing all the memorabilia and information. The last 3 slides are from Old Friends Equine, a retired race horse farm. Basically, it started when Ferdinand, a retired race horse, was sent to Japan to live and ended up going to a slaughter house and was mostly like used for pet food or steak. After hearing about this, the founder of Old Friends wanted to make sure this never happened to a retired race horse again. It now has about 200 retired horses including but not limited to Sarava (7th slide), Sliver Charm (8th slide) the horse that played on of the Seabiscuit in "Seabiscuit" (9th slide) and War Emblem (last slide). It was amazing to see all the race horses in a friendly, non-abusive environment where they can live the rest of their days happy and have lots of room to run around. ~·
Currently in Nashville, TN and awaiting the next adventure. Looking forward to a much needed day of rest tomorrow.
