Day 318 of 365: Problems
This drawing is starting to look like it’s coming directly out of the imagination of 10 year old me. And it’s lowkey looking like it’s being drawn by 10 year old me too ahah. I think this drawing is really exposing some gaps in my drawing ability. It’s good, but also the slightest bit frustrating cos it feels like I can do better than this. I’m struggling with drawing in perspective and the composition seems way off to me. I tried to draw these buildings in a slightly more interesting way, but I was having a hard time with getting it to look right. So instead, I’ve ended up with something a bit more boring. I mean, it’s still fun to draw like this so at least it’s not all a waste, but it also doesn’t feel like I’m stretching myself. I also haven’t decided whether I will go over this in ink or not. I’m not sure if that will help anything about it though. I wonder if one of the problems (besides what I’ve already mentioned) is that I usually rely on details to make the pictures look better, but in this scene, which is supposed to be somewhere in the arctic, there is lots of white space and very little detail to draw. So it just looks like it’s missing something. I also have no idea where to take this from here. Normally I have a vision for where I want a drawing to go, but I really don’t have anything this time.
